Hattie Mae Washington, age 83, a longtime resident of Little Rock, AR, transitioned peacefully on April 07, 2023. She was born in Little Rock on April 01, 1933 to the late Earl Hammonds and Lucy Bell Smith. See graduated from Dunbar High School and then went on to graduated nursing school from Pine Bluff A & M School of Nursing.
Hattie went on to dedicate 39 years of her life to nursing, where she served as an ICU nurse. Her natural gift for healing and compassionate care brought comfort to countless patients throughout her career. After her retirement, Hattie continued to serve the less fortunate by going on medical missions to the Haiti with her fellow nurses. Her selflessness and kindness will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched.
Hattie Mae was married to Dr. Fredrick Washington, Jr. Together they raised three children, Patrick (Michelle), Vincent (Ashley), and Hedy (Daniel). She was a devoted grandmother to ten grandchildren, Kieran, Sydney, Sage, Jackson, Isaac, Tanner, Kori, Charli, Vincent, and Lucas. Hattie was also a beloved sister to her siblings, Nellie, Norma, Vilma, Betty, and Robert. Her memory will be cherished by her loved ones, including many cousins, uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Hattie's unwavering faith and devotion to her church community was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was an active member of New Light Missionary Church. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May Hattie Mae rest in eternal peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire us to serve others with love and compassion. She will be forever loved and never forgotten.
